Breast Implant Replacement

Type

Breast Surgery

Duration

2 hours

Exchange of existing breast implants under general anaesthesia at BODY klinika, addressing rupture, capsular contracture, implant displacement, or an elective change in size or shape. Surgeons access the pocket through the original incision where possible — typically the inframammary fold, areolar, or axillary route — and may address the capsule or combine with a mastopexy at the same session. The clinic preferentially uses Siltex® implants, chosen for their statistically low capsular contracture rates. Hospitalisation with 24h physician cover is included. Starting from 101,000 Kč.

Breast implants are not lifetime devices: manufacturers typically indicate a functional lifespan of ten to twenty years, and revision surgery may be needed sooner if complications arise. Common reasons for implant exchange include confirmed or suspected rupture (silicone gel can migrate within the capsule without obvious external signs), capsular contracture (hardening and distortion as scar tissue tightens), implant displacement or bottoming-out over time, and patient-requested size or shape changes. BODY klinika's plastic surgeons assess the existing implant and capsule state before recommending the appropriate revision approach. Where the capsule is soft and the pocket well-positioned, simple exchange is performed through the original scar. When significant contracture is present, a capsulotomy (scoring and releasing the capsule) or capsulectomy (total removal of the capsule and implant en bloc) may be needed, with the degree of intervention tailored to the Baker grading of the contracture. Replacement implants are selected using the same pre-operative planning process as a primary augmentation: size, profile, placement, and surface type are agreed in consultation. The clinic preferentially uses Siltex® implants, whose textured surface has been associated in literature with lower contracture rates than smooth alternatives. Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. Hospitalisation duration depends on whether additional procedures are combined; a straight exchange typically requires one night. Access is through the original incision where tissue allows, minimising scar count. Starting from 101,000 Kč for the complete exchange.
