Smart PRP® is Beverly Hills Hair Restoration's proprietary platelet-rich plasma hair treatment, developed and patented by Dr John Kahen as a higher-potency alternative to standard clinic PRP protocols. Platelet-rich plasma therapy works by drawing a small volume of the patient's own blood, processing it in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, and injecting the resulting platelet-rich fraction into targeted areas of the scalp. Platelets release a diverse cocktail of growth factors — including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), transforming growth factor (TGF-β), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) — that may support follicle health by stimulating follicular stem cells, improving scalp microcirculation, and promoting a growth-phase (anagen) environment around weakened follicles. Dr Kahen's Smart PRP® system uses a proprietary centrifuge protocol and liquid platelet counting technology to verify that the prepared PRP meets a minimum potency threshold before injection, ensuring consistency across sessions.
