PDO revitalising threads are very fine threads made of polydioxanone — a material long used in absorbable surgical sutures — that are introduced just beneath the skin using thin needles. Rather than producing a strong mechanical lift, revitalising (mono) threads work primarily by acting as a gentle stimulus within the skin: as the threads are gradually absorbed over the following months, the surrounding tissue responds, which is associated with firmer, better-conditioned skin in the treated area. At the studio the area is cleansed and numbed, and the agreed number of threads is placed in a fine mesh pattern; pricing reflects whether 20, 40 or 60 threads are used. The procedure usually takes around thirty to forty-five minutes. Afterwards it is common to have minor redness, small entry points, mild tenderness and occasionally light bruising for a few days. Because the effect develops gradually as the skin responds and the threads absorb, results are not immediate and build over the weeks that follow, with the threads themselves dissolving over several months. Revitalising threads are well suited to areas of slightly lax or crêpey skin where the goal is improved quality and firmness rather than a dramatic lift, and they can be combined with the studio's mesotherapy, peels and stimulators as part of a wider plan.
