High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, or HIFU, is the only non-invasive technology capable of targeting the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) layer — the same fascial plane addressed during surgical facelifts. The SonoQueen device at BeauMED uses focused ultrasound transducers to deliver concentrated acoustic energy to precise tissue depths without disrupting the skin surface. Multiple cartridge depths are available: 1.5mm for the superficial dermis, 3.0mm for the deep dermis, and 4.5mm for the SMAS and subcutaneous tissue. At each focal point, the ultrasound energy generates temperatures of 60 to 70 degrees Celsius, creating a discrete thermal coagulation point approximately 1mm in size. These micro-coagulation points trigger an immediate contraction of existing collagen fibres, producing a visible tightening effect within hours of treatment. Over the following 2 to 6 months, the wound healing response replaces the coagulated tissue with new, densely organised collagen, resulting in progressive lifting and firming that continues to improve long after the treatment session.
