Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive body contouring technology based on the principle that fat cells (adipocytes) are more sensitive to cold than surrounding skin, muscle, and connective tissue. When exposed to controlled cooling at temperatures between minus 5 and minus 11 degrees Celsius, adipocytes undergo crystallisation of their intracellular lipids, which triggers a cascade of apoptotic cell death. The damaged fat cells are then gradually cleared by the body's inflammatory and lymphatic systems over the following 2 to 4 months. The treatment experience is straightforward. The targeted area is marked, a gel pad is applied to protect the skin surface, and the applicator cup is positioned. The initial vacuum suction produces a pulling sensation and brief intense cold, which subsides within 5 to 10 minutes as the area numbs. Most patients read, work on their phones, or rest comfortably during the remainder of the session. After the applicator is removed, the practitioner performs a brief manual massage of the treated area to break up the crystallised fat cells and enhance the treatment effect.
