A single-area botulinum toxin injection targeting one facial zone — typically the forehead, frown lines (glabellar complex), or crow's feet. Administered by an aesthetic medicine practitioner to temporarily relax specific muscle groups and reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.
Botulinum toxin type A is the most widely used injectable neuromodulator in aesthetic medicine, with over three decades of clinical data supporting its safety and efficacy for the treatment of dynamic facial wrinkles. At BeauMED, the single-area botox treatment targets one of the three primary upper-face zones: horizontal forehead lines, vertical glabellar frown lines between the eyebrows, or lateral periorbital lines (crow's feet). The practitioner assesses facial anatomy and muscle movement patterns during the consultation to determine the optimal injection points and dosage for natural-looking results. The mechanism of action involves blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, which temporarily prevents the targeted muscle fibres from contracting. This relaxation of the underlying muscle softens the overlying skin creases that form during repeated facial expressions. The effect is localised to the injected area — surrounding muscles continue to function normally, preserving natural facial expression while reducing specific wrinkle patterns. The injection process takes approximately 20 minutes including the initial assessment. A fine-gauge needle is used to deliver precise microdoses of the toxin into the target muscle at multiple injection points. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild pinch. No anaesthesia is required, and there is no downtime — patients can return to normal activities immediately, though they are advised to avoid lying flat or vigorous exercise for four hours post-treatment. Results typically become visible within 3 to 7 days as the muscle gradually relaxes, with full effect reached at approximately 14 days. The duration of effect is 3 to 4 months on average, after which muscle activity gradually returns and retreatment is needed to maintain the result. Patients who treat consistently over time often find that the intervals between sessions can be extended as the muscles adapt to reduced activity.
