Adjunct medications including orlistat (Xenical), which reduces dietary fat absorption, and phentermine (Panbesy), an appetite suppressant, may be prescribed for suitable patients as part of a comprehensive plan. The programme begins with a medical consultation to assess the patient's BMI, metabolic health, medication history and contraindications. After initiating treatment, follow-up appointments monitor progress, manage any side effects (commonly mild nausea and digestive discomfort in the first few weeks) and adjust dosing. Patients typically reach their target weight within 3–6 months with adherence to the prescribed regimen and lifestyle modifications.
