Vitamin C Infusion (7.5g)

Intravenous vitamin C bypasses the gastrointestinal absorption limit that caps oral vitamin C effectiveness. The intestinal transport mechanism (SVCT1) saturates at oral doses above approximately 200mg, meaning that no matter how much vitamin C is consumed orally, plasma levels plateau at a relatively low ceiling. IV delivery eliminates this bottleneck entirely, achieving plasma concentrations 10 to 30 times higher than the maximum oral achievable. At 7.5g (7,500mg), the IV dose is roughly 80 times the recommended daily allowance and produces pharmacological effects distinct from the nutritional role of vitamin C at lower doses. At high plasma concentrations, vitamin C acts as a pro-oxidant in the extracellular space, generating hydrogen peroxide that is selectively toxic to certain abnormal cells while leaving healthy cells unaffected (they have sufficient catalase to neutralise the peroxide). This mechanism underlies the use of high-dose IV vitamin C as an adjunctive therapy in integrative oncology, though at the 7.5g dose used at Ayvie, the primary benefits are immune enhancement and antioxidant support rather than cytotoxic effects (which require much higher doses of 25g+). The infusion takes approximately 30 minutes and is Ayvie's most accessible IV treatment, making it a good entry point for clients new to infusion therapy.
