The formulation centres on rapid rehydration with an isotonic electrolyte solution (restoring sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride balance), combined with B-vitamins that are critical cofactors in alcohol metabolism. B1 (thiamine) is particularly important as it is severely depleted by alcohol and is essential for neurological function — its depletion is responsible for much of the cognitive fog and fatigue associated with hangovers.
