A nephrology consultation is a specialist appointment for the assessment of kidney health, high blood pressure and related conditions, with an optional ultrasound of the urinary tract. The initial visit reviews symptoms, results and history; an ultrasound can be added to examine the kidneys and urinary tract in the same appointment.

A nephrology consultation is an appointment with a kidney specialist to assess and manage conditions affecting the kidneys and urinary system, as well as related problems such as high blood pressure and disturbances in the body's fluids and minerals. During the visit the physician reviews your history, symptoms and any blood or urine results, examines you and advises on further investigation, monitoring or treatment as appropriate. An ultrasound of the urinary tract can be performed in the same visit to look at the kidneys and bladder. At Centrum Medyczne AURUM the service is provided by Dr Piotr Cwalina, a specialist in internal medicine and nephrology who trained at the Academy of Medicine in Gdańsk and has practised in Germany — which, together with the clinic's German-border location, makes the service convenient and accessible for German-speaking patients from Görlitz and Saxony. The initial consultation is 300 zł and a follow-up 250 zł, with the option to add a urinary-tract ultrasound (350 zł initial, 300 zł follow-up). Nephrology care is associated with the assessment and ongoing management of kidney function, blood pressure and lipid disorders; it complements the clinic's clinical-dietetics service, since diet plays an important supporting role in kidney health. The consultation provides specialist assessment and a plan rather than a guarantee of outcome, and the physician will advise on any tests or referrals needed.
