Polydioxanone (PDO) or similar absorbable monofilament or barbed threads are inserted into the subcutaneous tissue through tiny entry points made with a fine needle — no incisions, no general anaesthesia and no hospital stay.
How threads work: The threads provide immediate mechanical lift by anchoring to adjacent tissue and pulling it upward. Over the following 3–6 months, the body's wound-healing response deposits new collagen around each thread filament. As the threads gradually dissolve (over 6–12 months), the newly formed collagen scaffold maintains much of the lifting effect. The net result is both an immediate and a longer-term improvement in skin laxity.
