A full-ceramic crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its strength, shape and natural appearance. Made entirely of porcelain with no metal, all-ceramic crowns let light pass through much like a real tooth, which gives an excellent cosmetic result, especially on front teeth. At ArtiSmile crowns are also offered on metal substructures and on implants, depending on the tooth and budget.

About this treatment

A crown is a tailor-made restoration that fits over a whole tooth like a cap, rebuilding it when too much has been lost to decay, fracture or large old fillings, or to protect a tooth after root canal treatment. By fully encasing the tooth, a crown restores its strength and function and re-establishes a natural shape, while protecting what remains of the underlying tooth from further damage.

At ArtiSmile, full-ceramic crowns are made entirely of porcelain without a metal core. Because there is no metal to block light, all-ceramic crowns transmit light in a way that closely resembles natural enamel and avoid the grey line that can appear at the gum with older metal-based crowns — which makes them particularly suited to visible front teeth.
