Composite Bonding

Type

Veneers

Duration

1 hour

Composite bonding reshapes and improves the look of a tooth by applying tooth-coloured resin directly to its surface — closing small gaps, repairing chips and refining uneven edges without removing healthy tooth structure. At ArtiSmile bonding can be done freehand or with a digitally designed flow-injection technique that transfers a planned smile design onto the teeth for a precise, repeatable result. It is a minimally invasive way to enhance a smile.

Composite bonding is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment in which a tooth-coloured resin is sculpted directly onto the teeth to improve their shape, colour and proportion. It is ideal for closing small spaces between teeth, repairing chipped or worn edges, reshaping teeth that are slightly irregular, and refreshing a smile without the more extensive preparation that veneers or crowns can require. Because little or no natural tooth is removed, bonding is generally reversible and conserves your own tooth structure. At ArtiSmile bonding is offered in two ways. Direct, freehand bonding has the dentist build and shape the composite by hand, layer by layer, matching the surrounding teeth. The digitally designed option uses a planned smile design and a flow-injection technique: a mould based on the agreed design is used to inject the composite onto the teeth in the exact shape that was planned, which can give a very controlled, symmetrical outcome and is well suited to treating several teeth together. The resin is hardened with a curing light and then polished to a natural lustre, usually in a single visit. Bonding can stain or chip over time and may need occasional polishing or repair, but it is straightforward to maintain and refresh. The dentist will discuss whether bonding or veneers better suit your goals, and good results pair well with a hygiene visit and, where wanted, whitening beforehand so the shade is matched to brighter teeth.
