A PDO thread lift uses fine, absorbable surgical threads — made of polydioxanone, a material long used in medicine — inserted under the skin with a thin needle or cannula to produce two effects. The tiny barbs or cones on the threads catch the underlying tissue and lift it into a slightly higher, firmer position, giving an immediate subtle lift; and as the threads are gradually broken down over the following months they stimulate the skin to produce its own new collagen and elastin, improving firmness and texture even after the thread itself has dissolved. At ArtisMed the area is numbed before the threads are placed, and the treatment typically takes around thirty to forty-five minutes depending on how many threads are used. It is well suited to early, mild sagging — softening jowls, refining the jawline, lifting the brow or cheek area — in people who want a noticeable freshening without surgery.
