PRP Injection (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

Ultrasound-guided platelet-rich plasma injection using your own concentrated blood plasma to stimulate musculoskeletal healing, reduce inflammation, and accelerate tissue repair in joints, tendons, and muscles.

Artisan Sports & Orthopaedics Clinic offers Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections as a core regenerative treatment for musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions. The procedure begins with a blood draw, which is processed via centrifugation to isolate a plasma fraction with a high concentration of platelets and their associated growth factors. This concentrated solution is then injected under ultrasound guidance directly into the target area — whether a joint, tendon, ligament, or muscle — to deliver precisely dosed regenerative signals where they are most needed. The use of the patient's own blood eliminates the risk of allergic reaction or immune rejection, making PRP a well-tolerated minimally invasive option. Common conditions treated at the clinic include osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, shoulder and rotator cuff tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, UCL and MCL ligament injuries, muscle strains, and post-surgical recovery support. Growth factors released by platelets promote collagen synthesis, angiogenesis, and cellular proliferation, leading to improved tissue quality and reduced pain over the weeks following injection. Most patients require 2–3 sessions spaced several weeks apart, though some acute presentations may respond to a single injection. Results develop gradually, with patients advised to avoid NSAIDs post-procedure and to apply ice to the injection site 2–3 times daily in the immediate recovery period. Dr. Puah Ken Lee, a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with specialist experience from the USA, France, Switzerland, China, South Korea, and the Philippines, performs all injections at the clinic's Paragon Medical Centre suite.
