Labiaplasty

Type

Body Contouring

Duration

2 hours

Labiaplasty reduces or reshapes the labia minora (inner labia) to relieve discomfort, correct asymmetry, or achieve the patient's aesthetic preference. At Art Ethic, the procedure is performed under local or general anaesthesia depending on patient preference; the surgeon uses haemostatic solution alongside anaesthetic infiltration to minimise bleeding, and all sutures are absorbable. Optional clitoral hood reduction can be added in the same session. Functional indications include discomfort during exercise, intercourse, or wearing tight clothing — all of which the procedure addresses reliably.

Labiaplasty is the surgical reduction or reshaping of the labia minora — the inner labia on either side of the vaginal opening. The labia minora vary considerably in size and shape between individuals, and enlarged, asymmetric, or elongated labia are a common anatomical variant that can cause both functional problems and aesthetic concerns. Functional issues that labiaplasty reliably addresses include: discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse where enlarged labia are drawn into the vaginal opening; irritation during cycling, running, or other sports; difficulty with certain clothing (swimwear, cycling shorts, tight trousers); and hygiene challenges from excess tissue. Patients also present with aesthetic concerns — a preference for a less prominent labial appearance — and both functional and aesthetic motivations are equally valid indications. At Art Ethic Beauty Clinic, doc. MUDr. Martin Molitor, Ph.D., MBA performs labiaplasty under local or general anaesthesia in one to one and a half hours. The surgery begins with anaesthetic infiltration combined with a haemostatic solution to reduce intraoperative bleeding and ensure patient comfort throughout. The excess labial tissue is excised using the trim technique (removing the free edge) or the wedge technique (removing a V-shaped segment from the middle of the labium to preserve the natural edge); technique selection is based on anatomy and the degree of reduction required. Optional concurrent procedures include clitoral hood reduction — removal of the prepuce tissue overlying the clitoral glans when it contributes to the prominent appearance — which can be performed through the same operative field. All sutures used are absorbable and require no removal. Recovery involves one to two weeks at home with avoidance of physical activity that stresses the surgical area; light activity resumes from two weeks; full unrestricted activity — including intercourse and high-impact sport — from four to six weeks. Swelling and bruising are expected for the first one to two weeks and resolve completely. Long-term results are permanent — the labia do not re-enlarge after surgery.
