Labia Majora Fat Grafting

Labia majora fat grafting restores volume and fullness to the outer labia using the patient's own fat, harvested from the abdomen or inner thigh. Volume loss in the labia majora is common with ageing, weight loss, or hormonal changes and can cause aesthetic concerns as well as discomfort. The procedure uses the same autologous fat transfer principles as facial and hand grafting — no synthetic materials are used, and successfully integrated fat provides a lasting result. Labia majora fat grafting addresses the deflation and ptosis (drooping) of the outer labia that can occur with ageing, weight loss, hormonal changes, or as a natural anatomical variation. The labia majora normally contain a cushion of subcutaneous fat that provides protection, comfort, and aesthetic fullness. When this volume is lost, the labia may appear flat, wrinkled, or asymmetric — causing aesthetic concerns and, in some patients, functional discomfort during activities such as cycling or wearing certain clothing. Fat is harvested from a donor site — the abdomen or inner thigh — using small-volume liposuction. After centrifugation to separate viable adipocytes, the processed fat is injected through fine cannulas into the subcutaneous layer of each labium majus, restoring volume and contour. Injection points are microscopically small and leave no visible marks on the treated tissue. The surgeon injects a calculated volume to account for the partial reabsorption (20–30%) that occurs as the body integrates the transferred fat. Stable final results are visible at three to four months. Unlike hyaluronic acid-based labia fillers, which require repeat treatment every six to twelve months, successfully integrated autologous fat provides a lasting result with no foreign material. Recovery involves one to two weeks of reduced activity, with avoidance of activities that place pressure on the treated area (cycling, horseback riding, certain sports) for four to six weeks. Light activity resumes after one week; unrestricted activity from eight weeks. Mild swelling and bruising resolve within two to three weeks. The procedure is frequently considered alongside labiaplasty (labia minora reduction) for patients with concerns about both the inner and outer labia — these can be combined in one surgical session.
