Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) removes excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin to create smaller, lighter breasts — relieving the chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain that disproportionately large breasts cause. Art Ethic offers four reduction techniques matched to the severity and anatomy of each case, all performed by a senior plastic surgeon with 25 years of experience. The clinic works with Czech health insurers, and patients with documented functional problems — breathing difficulties, posture issues, skin irritation — may qualify for partial reimbursement after paying for the procedure upfront.
Reduction mammaplasty is both an aesthetic and functional procedure: while it creates a more proportionate breast shape and size, many patients seek it primarily to relieve chronic pain from the weight of large, heavy breasts. Back pain, shoulder grooving from bra straps, skin rashes under the fold, and restricted exercise capacity are common presenting concerns at Art Ethic Beauty Clinic. Doc. MUDr. Martin Molitor, Ph.D., MBA — Associate Professor and Head of Plastic Surgery at Bulovka Hospital — performs the procedure using one of four technique options selected according to the volume to be removed and the degree of associated ptosis: periareolar (for minor reductions), vertical (for moderate), inverted-T (the standard workhorse for larger reductions), and an alternative pattern for specific anatomical presentations. Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately two hours, with a one-night hospital stay. The procedure removes the planned volume of breast tissue and fat, reshapes the remaining gland, repositions the nipple-areola complex to a natural height, and removes redundant skin. The areola may also be reduced if it has stretched proportionally. All excised tissue is sent for routine histopathological assessment. Recovery involves one to two weeks at home, with a return to desk work typically possible at that point. Physical activity is restricted for eight weeks, after which unrestricted exercise resumes. A post-surgical bra or compression garment is worn continuously during the initial recovery period. Scars are permanent but typically fade to thin lines at 12–18 months. Contraindications include pregnancy, active breastfeeding, active systemic illness, and planned near-term pregnancy. Patients who smoke are advised to cease at least two weeks before surgery to reduce wound-healing risk. The clinic accepts patients from Czech health insurance schemes — patients pay for the procedure upfront and claim reimbursement from their insurer, with the clinic providing the necessary documentation.
