Thread Lift

Duration

1 hour

Non-surgical facial lifting using polydioxanone (PDO) absorbable threads that physically lift and reposition sagging facial tissue while also stimulating new collagen production as they dissolve over four to six months. At Arsderma the procedure is performed by a physician who places the threads under local anaesthesia through tiny puncture points, creating an immediate mechanical lift of the cheeks, jowls, brows or neck without incisions. From 15,000 Kč depending on the number of threads required.

A PDO thread lift uses polydioxanone sutures — the same material used in absorbable surgical sutures for decades — inserted beneath the skin through tiny needle punctures to mechanically lift soft tissue and stimulate a sustained collagenesis response as the threads dissolve. Unlike a surgical facelift, no incisions are made, no tissue is removed, and there is no general anaesthesia. PDO threads come in two main forms used at Arsderma: smooth mono-threads, which are distributed in a mesh-like pattern to provide bio-stimulation and mild tightening, and barbed cog-threads, which have small projections along their length that grip the tissue and create the lifting force, physically suspending the soft tissue in a higher position. The procedure at Arsderma is performed entirely by a physician. After a detailed facial assessment mapping the areas of laxity and the intended thread vectors, the skin is disinfected and local anaesthetic injected into the entry points and along the planned thread lines. The practitioner then inserts a thin cannula or needle along the planned vector beneath the skin, deploys the thread, and withdraws the introducer — the barbs anchor in the tissue and the skin surface retracts. The typical areas treated include the lower face and jowls, cheeks and mid-face, brows and forehead, and the neck. Each zone requires a calculated number of threads to achieve the desired lift while maintaining natural expression. Immediately after the procedure there is mild swelling and bruising at the entry points, and slight dimpling may be visible as the thread beds in; this typically resolves within one to two weeks. Patients are advised to avoid extreme facial movements, chewing hard foods and dental work for two to three weeks, and to sleep on their back for the first week. The threads are absorbed over four to six months, and during this dissolution period they stimulate new collagen deposition, so the tissue gradually firms and the neocollagenesis effect supplements the initial mechanical lift. Results typically last twelve to eighteen months depending on skin condition and the number of threads placed, after which repeat treatment can maintain the result. A PDO thread lift suits adults with mild to moderate skin laxity who want a meaningful lift but are not ready for or interested in surgical options, and who are willing to undergo a minor physician-administered procedure under local anaesthesia. The results are natural and immediate, making it a popular alternative to surgery for the jowl and mid-face region. Contraindications include blood-thinning medications, autoimmune conditions and active infection; full assessment is carried out by the physician at consultation.
