Radiofrequency Skin Tightening

Radiofrequency (RF) energy treatment that heats the dermis to stimulate collagen contraction and new collagen synthesis, progressively firming and tightening lax skin on the face, neck and body without surgery or downtime. At Arsderma the RF handpiece delivers controlled dermal heating while leaving the skin surface intact, and the treatment is suitable for mild to moderate skin laxity on multiple areas. Radiofrequency skin tightening uses electromagnetic energy in the radiofrequency range to heat the dermis and deep dermis to a therapeutic temperature — typically 40–45°C — while the skin surface is kept comfortable with a cooled handpiece. At this temperature, existing collagen fibres partially contract, producing an immediate mild tightening effect, and fibroblasts are stimulated to produce new collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months as the tissue remodels. The result is a progressive improvement in skin firmness and contour that continues to develop for up to three to six months after a course of sessions. At Arsderma the RF platform is used for both facial tightening and body contouring. On the face the primary areas addressed are the lower face and jowl region, the neck, under the chin, and the eye area, where mild laxity and skin softening are common concerns for adults in their late thirties and forties. On the body, RF tightening addresses loose skin on the abdomen (particularly after weight change or pregnancy), inner thighs, upper arms and other areas where skin has lost its elasticity without the addition of excess fat. During a session the practitioner moves the RF handpiece smoothly over the skin with a conductive coupling gel. The skin warms progressively to a comfortable therapeutic heat — many people find the sensation relaxing, similar to a warm stone massage — and there is no ablation of the surface. Immediately after treatment the skin may look flushed and feel warm; this typically settles within a few hours, and normal daily activity can resume immediately. There is no recovery period, making RF tightening particularly practical for working patients. For optimal results in skin laxity, a course of four to six sessions spaced two weeks apart is recommended; the cumulative collagen remodelling gives a progressively firmer feel and appearance over the course and the following months. Maintenance sessions are possible once or twice a year. RF tightening suits adults with mild to moderate skin laxity who want non-invasive firming without the recovery associated with surgery or more ablative treatments. It is not a replacement for surgical lifting when significant skin excess is present, but it is a well-tolerated and effective option for early-to-moderate laxity management. Contraindications include implanted electronic devices (pacemakers, cochlear implants), metal plates or rods in the treatment area, and active inflammation — reviewed at the consultation.
