Pigmentation & Dark Spot Correction

Type

Pigmentation

Duration

45 min

Targeted treatment of hyperpigmentation — sun spots, age spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and melasma — using a combination of chemical peels and laser approaches chosen by the physician based on the type, depth and distribution of the pigment. At Arsderma the treatment protocol accounts for skin phototype, as some pigmentation conditions (particularly melasma) require a more conservative approach on darker skin types to avoid rebound. From 3,000 Kč per session.

Hyperpigmentation arises when melanocytes — the pigment-producing cells of the skin — produce excessive melanin in localised or diffuse patterns. The cause influences the treatment approach: solar lentigines (sun spots and age spots) are discrete, superficial deposits of melanin stimulated by ultraviolet exposure; post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is melanin deposited after skin inflammation (from acne, injury or procedures); and melasma is a chronic, deeper and more hormonally influenced hyperpigmentation that can affect large areas of the face and is prone to recurrence if sun management is not maintained. At Arsderma the physician first classifies the pigmentation with a Wood's lamp or dermoscopy to determine whether it is predominantly epidermal (superficial) or dermal (deep), and assesses the patient's skin phototype — crucial because high-energy treatments on darker phototypes can paradoxically worsen pigment by triggering post-procedural PIH. For superficial sun spots and epidermal PIH, laser photo-rejuvenation or moderate-depth chemical peels (such as TCA or a series of glycolic acid peels) effectively break up the melanin and promote its clearance. For melasma, the programme is more conservative — typically a course of superficial peels (mandelic, azelaic, or low-strength glycolic) combined with prescription depigmenting preparations, with laser used cautiously or avoided on darker phototypes. Between treatment sessions and for an extended period afterwards, SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sun protection is non-negotiable: ultraviolet light is the primary trigger for melanin overproduction, and failing to protect treated skin will undo the improvement within weeks. The clinic provides written aftercare instructions and product recommendations for both the treatment period and long-term maintenance. The number of sessions needed varies considerably by pigmentation type — a solitary sun spot may clear in one to two laser sessions, while generalised melasma requires a longer programme of six to eight sessions over several months and ongoing maintenance. Progress is reviewed at each session and the protocol adjusted as needed. The treatment suits adults troubled by uneven skin tone, sun damage or post-acne marks; full contraindications are reviewed at the initial consultation.
