Trichopigmentation is the cosmetic procedure that most closely replicates the look of a shaved or very close-cropped head of hair on a scalp affected by alopecia, recession, thinning, or scarring. Unlike conventional tattoos, the pigment is placed at a controlled shallow depth into the scalp dermis using parameters calibrated for the specific density and dot size of a natural hair follicle cross-section — the result fades gracefully over time rather than turning blue-green as many standard tattoo pigments do on the scalp. AR aesthetics' lead specialist Alesia Rybak has performed over 800 trichopigmentation sessions, making her one of the most experienced practitioners of this technique in Prague. The studio offers three distinct trichopigmentation approaches: SMP Dot Work places hundreds to thousands of tiny pigment dots across the treated area, each calibrated to match the size and colour of a natural hair follicle cross-section. When viewed at arm's length (and up close), the scalp reads as a closely-cropped, freshly-shaved head. This technique is favoured by men with androgenetic alopecia, shaved-head styles, or scarring alopecia. Hair Strokes (vláskování) creates individual fine lines rather than dots, imitating actual hair strands growing from the follicle. This approach is better suited to women with diffuse thinning or visible part-lines, where a painted-on stubble pattern would look unnatural; instead, the strokes blend with the client's remaining hair to create a seamless appearance of density. Density Enhancement builds optical density by layering pigment across an area of thinning hair, creating the impression of a fuller scalp that supports the existing real hair rather than replacing it. This is the most commonly requested approach for women experiencing hormonal hair loss, post-partum shedding, or chemotherapy recovery. Pricing is area-dependent and is confirmed at consultation. The standard course involves an initial session followed by 1–3 correction visits spaced 1–3 months apart, allowing the pigment to settle and the artist to build density layer by layer. Total treatment time is 3–4 appointments for most cases. Results last 1–3 years depending on sun exposure, skin type, and maintenance. Preparation: no sun exposure to the scalp for 10 days before the procedure. Stop blood-thinning medications and supplements 10 days prior. Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours before the session. The scalp must be free of active inflammation, rashes, open wounds, or psoriasis flares on the day of the appointment. Aftercare: rinse treated areas with chlorhexidine solution for 7–10 days post-procedure. No water contact (showering the scalp) for 3 days. Avoid direct sun, saunas, swimming pools, and activities causing heavy sweating for 2 weeks. Full regeneration: 30 days. Contraindications (absolute): strong keloid tendency, fever or active systemic infection, active oncological conditions (chemotherapy, radiotherapy), hepatitis B/C, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy, bleeding disorders. Relative contraindications: active scalp dermatitis or psoriasis, first-trimester pregnancy, anticoagulant therapy, recent scalp surgery.
