PMU removal at AR aesthetics uses the REMOVER enzymatic method — a chemical removal technique that dissolves permanent makeup pigment particles without laser heat, making it effective on all pigment colours including shades that resist standard Q-switched or picosecond laser removal. The enzymatic preparation is applied with a micro-needle device into the skin layer where the pigment sits; it binds to the pigment particles and breaks them down so that the body can eliminate them through the natural skin surface over the following weeks. The process is gentler on surrounding tissue than laser ablation and does not create the thermal damage risk associated with high-energy laser pulses on dark or multi-colour PMU. Three to five sessions spaced 30–45 days apart are standard; the complete treatment typically takes 3–6 months. Free initial consultation included.
Permanent makeup (PMU) removal presents different challenges from conventional tattoo removal because PMU pigments are specifically formulated for the face — they are softer in composition and placed at shallower depths than body tattoo inks, but they include a range of organic and inorganic compounds (including some iron oxide pigments) that do not always respond predictably to laser energy. Laser-resistant shades such as whites, warm taupes, and certain pinks are particularly problematic for laser removal systems, which work by shattering the ink with thermal shock. AR aesthetics uses the REMOVER enzymatic removal system as an alternative approach. Rather than shattering pigment with heat, enzymatic removal works chemically: a specialised enzymatic preparation is delivered into the skin at the precise depth where the pigment sits, using a micro-needle device. The enzymes bind to the pigment particles and break down their molecular structure. As part of the natural skin healing process over the following 3–4 weeks, the skin pushes the broken-down pigment material toward the surface, where it is eliminated through the outer skin layers. This mechanism offers several practical advantages over laser methods for PMU specifically. First, it addresses all pigment colours uniformly — the enzymatic action does not depend on the pigment's light-absorption properties the way laser does, so warm, cool, and mixed-colour PMU responds similarly. Second, it avoids the thermal component of laser treatment, which reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that can paradoxically worsen the appearance of poorly pigmented areas in the periorbital and perioral zones. Third, the treatment is precisely localised to the PMU area: the enzyme acts only where it is delivered. The standard course involves 3–5 sessions spaced 30–45 days apart, giving the skin adequate time to complete the elimination process between appointments and ensuring each session starts from a clear baseline. The total treatment timeline is 3–6 months depending on the quantity of pigment present, its age (older pigment is generally more resistant), and individual skin elimination speed. Free initial consultation is included to assess the pigment type, placement, and likely number of sessions required. This consultation also screens for contraindications — including any keloid tendency in the treatment area and current medications. Contraindications: active skin infection in the treatment zone, blood clotting disorders, pregnancy, active systemic immunosuppression. Keloid tendency in the area is a relative contraindication that must be disclosed at the consultation.
