Dark Circle Camouflage — Under-Eye Dermapigmentation

Type

Pigmentation

Duration

1 hour

Dark circle camouflage at AR aesthetics uses dermapigmentation to deposit light-reflecting pigment particles beneath the lower eyelids, visually neutralising the dark, purple, or hollow appearance caused by visible capillaries, subcutaneous shadowing, or skin thinning. The technique deposits pigment layer by layer into the under-eye skin, individually matched to the client's complexion, and is performed with topical anaesthetic cream — no injections are involved. The full process runs over 3–4 months to allow incremental layering and precise colour building. Two to five correction sessions are typically needed to achieve optimal cover. Results last 2–3 years. Both lower lids alone (7,000 Kč) and upper-and-lower combined (8,500 Kč) options are available.

The under-eye area is one of the most challenging zones in aesthetic medicine because dark circles can have multiple overlapping causes — each requiring a different corrective approach. AR aesthetics addresses the structural-pigmentation type: the dark appearance created by visible subcutaneous capillaries, the blue-grey shadow of the orbicularis oculi muscle visible through thin eyelid skin, and the hollowness that deepens shadows. In these cases, dermapigmentation with light-reflecting particles can create lasting optical correction that no topical concealer can replicate. The technique deposits a custom-formulated, light-scattering pigment just beneath the surface of the lower (and optionally upper) eyelid skin. The pigment contains light-reflecting particles that bounce ambient light back outward, reducing the appearance of the dark underlying structures. Crucially, the pigment is layered gradually across multiple sessions rather than applied to full opacity in a single treatment — this gives the artist precise control over the final colour and prevents overcorrection, which would look unnatural. The first session deposits an initial base layer and establishes the pigment tone match to the surrounding skin. At the correction sessions (2–5 sessions spaced through a 3–4 month process), additional layers are built up until the desired coverage is achieved. The number of corrections required depends on how severe the dark circles are, how much coverage is desired, and how the individual's skin retains pigment — which varies significantly in the delicate periorbital area. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied generously before any work begins and reapplied as needed. No injections of any kind are used during the procedure, which makes it accessible to clients who are anxious about needle-based cosmetic work. The procedure is suitable for dark circles caused by structural or pigmentary factors. It is not appropriate for circles caused primarily by pronounced fat-pad herniation (undereye bags with a physical bulge), for which surgical blepharoplasty may be more suitable. Contraindications (absolute): high fever, blood clotting disorders or haemophilia, stage 2 hypertension, active oncological conditions, epilepsy, asthma requiring regular medication, hepatitis B/C, HIV/AIDS, psychiatric conditions affecting cooperation, recent eye surgery within 6 months, chemotherapy, first-trimester pregnancy.
