Cosmelan is a professional depigmentation treatment for melasma, sun-induced patches and other stubborn hyperpigmentation. An in-clinic mask is applied and left on for a set time, then continued with a structured home regimen to reduce excess pigment and even out skin tone over the following weeks. It is one of the more intensive options for discolouration and is planned and supervised by the doctor.

Cosmelan is a two-phase professional depigmentation protocol aimed at melasma and other forms of stubborn hyperpigmentation, including sun-related patches and uneven tone. It works by reducing the activity of the pigment-producing cells in the skin and accelerating the turnover of pigmented cells, helping to fade existing discolouration and limit its return. The first phase is an in-clinic mask applied by the doctor and left in place for a prescribed period before you remove it at home as instructed; the second phase is a structured home maintenance regimen of depigmenting and supporting products used over the following weeks and months. At this clinic the initial application takes around thirty to forty-five minutes and the skin is assessed and prepared first. After the mask, it is normal to experience redness, tightness and visible peeling or flaking for several days as the skin renews, during which gentle care and very strict daily sun protection are essential — sun exposure is the main driver of pigment returning. Results build gradually as the skin sheds pigmented cells and new, more even-toned skin emerges, with continued improvement over the maintenance period. Because outcomes depend closely on following the home regimen and sun-protection advice, the doctor reviews your skin, suitability and expectations before starting. Cosmelan is intended for adults with melasma or persistent pigmentation; it is avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding and over active skin conditions.
