About this treatment
Professional dental hygiene at Ambicare is performed by qualified dental hygienists and goes significantly beyond what standard brushing and flossing at home can achieve. Even with excellent home care, mineralised deposits (tartar) build up on tooth surfaces and below the gum line over time — these can only be removed with professional instruments.
Scaling
Ultrasonic and hand instruments are used to remove supragingival (above gum line) and subgingival (below gum line) calculus deposits. Subgingival scaling is particularly important for preventing periodontal disease — chronic inflammation of the supporting structures around teeth that, if untreated, leads to bone loss and eventual tooth loss.
