Dental Crowns

Ambicare offers metal-ceramic and all-ceramic dental crowns for restoring damaged, heavily filled, or root-treated teeth. Crowns encase the entire visible tooth surface to restore strength, function, and appearance. All-ceramic crowns provide the most natural aesthetic result and are metal-free, while metal-ceramic crowns offer additional strength at the chewing surface.

A dental crown (cap) is a full-coverage restoration that encases the entire visible portion of a tooth above the gum line, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are indicated when a tooth is too damaged for a standard filling — after root canal treatment, a large fracture, significant decay, or as part of a bridge to replace a missing tooth. **Crown types at Ambicare:** *All-ceramic crowns (13,150–17,550 Kč):* Made entirely from dental porcelain or zirconia. Offer the best aesthetic result as they transmit light similarly to natural enamel and have no dark metal margin at the gum line. Recommended for anterior (front) teeth and patients with metal allergies. Zirconia-based crowns are also highly durable and suitable for posterior (back) teeth. *Metal-ceramic crowns (16,250 Kč):* A metal substructure with a ceramic outer layer. Extremely durable for molar teeth subject to heavy biting forces. The metal substructure is fully covered by ceramic and invisible from the front, but may show a thin dark margin at the gum line over time as gums recede with age. **The crown process:** The tooth is prepared by removing decay and reducing the outer surface to make room for the crown's thickness (typically 1 to 2 mm). A temporary acrylic crown is placed while the permanent crown is fabricated in the dental laboratory (10 to 14 days). At the fitting appointment, the permanent crown is tried in, adjusted for bite, and cemented permanently.
