Whole-Body MRI Screening

Full-body MRI scan covering head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, and joints using a Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra 3-Tesla scanner. The scan provides radiation-free cross-sectional imaging of all major organ systems in a single session. Excludes dedicated heart, breast, and colon imaging — these are available as separate add-ons or included in the checkup packages.

The whole-body MRI screening at ALTA Klinik uses a 3-Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra scanner, which produces higher-resolution images than the more common 1.5-Tesla machines found in most imaging centres. The stronger magnetic field enables finer tissue contrast and smaller lesion detection, particularly relevant for early-stage screening where findings may be only a few millimetres in size. The scan covers the brain and cranial structures, cervical and thoracic spine, chest organs (lungs, mediastinum), abdominal organs (liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen, adrenals), pelvic structures, lumbar spine, and major joints. Each body region is acquired in sequence, with the entire session lasting approximately two hours including positioning and image review. MRI uses magnetic fields and radiofrequency pulses rather than ionising radiation, making it suitable for repeat screening without cumulative exposure concerns. This is a meaningful advantage for individuals who plan annual or biennial preventive scans over many years. The scan produces detailed soft-tissue images that complement but do not replace other modalities — for instance, CT may still be preferred for lung nodule characterisation, and mammography remains the standard breast screening tool. Results are reviewed by ALTA's radiology team and discussed in a same-day or next-day consultation. The report includes annotated images highlighting any findings, with recommendations for follow-up where clinically indicated.
