Prostate MRI

Standalone multiparametric prostate MRI on a 3-Tesla scanner with AI-assisted analysis and PI-RADS classification. This is the imaging component alone, without the broader cancer screening blood work included in the Prostate Cancer Screening package. Suitable for patients who already have recent blood work or are referred specifically for imaging.

The standalone prostate MRI provides the core imaging assessment from ALTA Klinik's prostate diagnostics programme without the accompanying blood work and extended consultation. The multiparametric protocol acquires the same three complementary sequence types used in the full screening package: T2-weighted anatomical images, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for cellularity assessment, and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) sequences for vascularity mapping. All sequences are acquired on the 3-Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra, which provides superior image quality compared to 1.5-Tesla systems for prostate assessment. The higher field strength is particularly beneficial for diffusion-weighted sequences, where the improved signal-to-noise ratio enables higher b-value acquisitions that enhance tumour conspicuity. Findings are classified using the standardised PI-RADS scoring system, augmented by ALTA's AI-assisted analysis tool. The AI component may improve detection consistency by flagging regions of interest that warrant closer radiologist attention. The final assessment remains physician-reviewed — AI serves as a decision-support tool rather than an autonomous diagnostic system. This standalone examination is appropriate for patients who have been referred specifically for prostate MRI (often after an elevated PSA finding), those who have recent blood work from their GP and do not need it repeated, or patients returning for follow-up imaging of previously identified findings.
