CT of the full chest — lungs, mediastinum, pleura, and bony thorax — at €98. Direct self-pay booking available. Contrast studies for vascular or oncological indication available separately. Results with CD images provided within working days.
Alpha Medical's chest CT at €98 provides complete cross-sectional imaging of the thoracic cavity — lung parenchyma, airways, mediastinum, pleural spaces, pericardium, and chest wall including the ribs and thoracic vertebrae. The multi-slice CT equipment produces thin axial sections reconstructed with both lung-kernel and soft-tissue-kernel algorithms, enabling simultaneous evaluation of parenchymal and mediastinal structures from a single data acquisition. Chest CT is one of the most clinically versatile imaging examinations available. The examination identifies and characterises pulmonary nodules detected incidentally or on prior chest X-ray, assesses mediastinal lymphadenopathy and lymphoma staging, evaluates thoracic malignancies, and provides detailed anatomical mapping ahead of thoracic surgery or biopsy. For diffuse parenchymal lung disease including interstitial pneumonitis, usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP), or chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis, high-resolution CT (HRCT) of the lungs uses thinner sections and specific reconstruction kernels to resolve the fine detail of the secondary pulmonary lobule. For vascular indications — principally suspected pulmonary embolism (PE) — a dedicated CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) protocol uses precisely timed contrast injection during the pulmonary arterial phase to opacify the pulmonary vasculature, allowing direct detection of thrombus in the main, lobar, segmental, and subsegmental pulmonary arteries. CTPA is the first-line imaging investigation for suspected PE in European and North American guidelines owing to its high sensitivity and specificity, immediate availability, and ability to simultaneously assess for alternative diagnoses (pneumonia, pleural effusion, cardiac abnormality) that can mimic PE clinically. Contrast agent for angiographic and oncological CT protocols is available where clinically indicated; the radiologist or referring physician advises on contrast necessity at the pre-examination review. Patients with known contrast allergy history require pre-medication arranged in advance. Metformin should be withheld 24 hours before contrast-enhanced CT in patients with diabetes, as per standard Slovak practice. The facility accepts self-pay patients for direct booking alongside referred patients with Slovak health insurance coverage. Written radiologist reports and CD image copies are available after examination, with urgent findings communicated to referring physicians by telephone.
