Contrast-enhanced CT angiography of vascular structures — aorta, carotid, peripheral, renal, and pulmonary vessels — at €108. Three-dimensional MIP and volume-rendered reconstructions. Radiologist written report and CD images included.
Alpha Medical's CT angiography service provides contrast-enhanced three-dimensional imaging of the arterial and venous vasculature at €108, using precisely timed intravenous contrast injection — bolus tracking or test-bolus technique — to opacify the target vessels during peak arterial or venous phase acquisition. The resulting dataset is post-processed using maximum intensity projection (MIP) and volume rendering (VR) algorithms to produce diagnostic-quality vascular maps that can be viewed in any plane and orientation. CT angiography at Alpha Medical covers the full range of vascular territories encountered in clinical and preventive practice. Assessment of the thoracic and abdominal aorta is central to surveillance of known aortic aneurysm (determining maximum diameter, morphology, and growth rate) and to diagnosis of aortic dissection, where CT angiography is the definitive first-line imaging investigation in haemodynamically stable patients and directly guides surgical or endovascular management decisions. Aortic imaging also covers the branch vessels including the coeliac axis, superior mesenteric artery, and renal arteries. Carotid artery CT angiography is indicated for assessment of carotid atherosclerotic stenosis — the leading preventable cause of ischaemic stroke — where the severity of stenosis directly determines eligibility for carotid endarterectomy or stenting. CT angiography quantifies stenosis using the NASCET and ECST criteria and characterises plaque morphology (calcified vs. mixed vs. soft plaque), which is relevant to procedural risk stratification. Intracranial CT angiography can be added to assess the circle of Willis for aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, or cerebrovascular disease. Pulmonary CT angiography (CTPA) is the definitive investigation for suspected pulmonary embolism, opacifying the pulmonary arterial tree from the main pulmonary trunk to the subsegmental level in a single breath-hold acquisition. Peripheral CT angiography of the lower limb circulation evaluates peripheral arterial disease, maps run-off vessels below the knee ahead of revascularisation, and characterises bypass graft patency. Renal artery CT angiography is used for renovascular hypertension workup, renal artery stenosis assessment, and pre-operative mapping before renal surgery or transplantation. Patients with a history of contrast allergy require pre-medication (corticosteroid and antihistamine protocol) arranged by the referring physician in advance. Metformin must be withheld 24 hours before contrast CT in diabetic patients. Renal function is screened before contrast administration in patients with known kidney disease. The contrast agent is billed at standard rates based on volume injected. Written reports with vascular measurements and CD image copies are provided after examination.
