DVT (digital volume tomography) is a 3D dental X-ray that captures the teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures in three dimensions, giving far more detail than a flat X-ray for planning implants and complex cases. AllDent Berlin offers a DVT scan including the dentist's evaluation at a fixed 99 €, used to plan implant placement, difficult extractions and root canal treatment accurately.

DVT, or digital volume tomography (also known as cone-beam CT), is a three-dimensional dental X-ray. Where a conventional X-ray produces a flat image, a DVT scan reconstructs the teeth, roots, jawbone, nerve canals and sinuses as a 3D volume that can be viewed from any angle. This detail is particularly valuable for planning implants — assessing bone height and width and positioning the implant safely away from nerves and the sinus — and for evaluating impacted wisdom teeth, complex root canal anatomy and other cases where a standard X-ray does not show enough. At AllDent Zahnzentrum Berlin a DVT scan with evaluation is offered at a fixed 99 €, with the fee covering both the scan itself and the dentist's assessment of the resulting images. The scan is quick and non-invasive, and the 3D data feeds directly into treatment planning — for example positioning an implant, judging whether bone grafting is needed, or mapping the canals before endodontic treatment. Because the imaging is available in-house, planning and treatment can be coordinated in the same centre. A DVT is recommended where the dentist needs a three-dimensional view to plan treatment safely and precisely; whether it is required is decided at consultation as part of the wider plan.
