Submental and neck liposuction reduces the localised fat that collects beneath the chin and along the upper neck, blunting the jawline and creating the appearance of a 'double chin' even in people who are otherwise slim. Working through one or two tiny incisions hidden under the chin or behind the ears, the surgeon introduces fine cannulas and gently suctions the excess fat to reveal a sharper, more defined contour between the chin and neck. At the Aleksandra clinic the procedure is relatively quick, often around an hour, and can be performed under local anaesthesia. Dr Sidorowicz founded one of the first centres in Poland dedicated to liposuction techniques and uses this experience to contour the area conservatively for a natural look. A supportive chin strap or garment is worn for a period afterwards to help the skin redrape and reduce swelling; bruising and swelling settle over one to three weeks, with the final contour clearer once they fully resolve. The best candidates have good skin elasticity so the skin retightens neatly over the reduced fat; where skin laxity is significant, a different approach may be advised. The treatment is associated with a more defined jawline and is suited to adults bothered by a persistent fatty fullness under the chin that does not respond to weight loss.
