Intestinal Parasites Screen

AGELLAB's intestinal parasites screen looks for protozoa and other parasites in the gastrointestinal tract that can cause ongoing digestive disturbance. Parasitic gut infections are an under-considered cause of chronic symptoms such as persistent diarrhoea, bloating, abdominal discomfort or unexplained gut upset — particularly after travel to regions where such infections are more common, or after exposure to contaminated food or water.

Identifying or excluding a parasitic cause can redirect management productively: a confirmed parasite points toward specific treatment, while a negative result helps shift attention to other explanations. The screen is most useful when paired with a clear symptom and travel history, which the laboratory and a clinician can use to interpret the findings.

The analysis is performed in ISO 15189-accredited AGEL-group laboratories drawing on the network's microbiology capability.
