A laboratory screen for parasitic protozoa and other parasites in the gastrointestinal tract. It is for people with persistent digestive symptoms, those returning from travel to higher-risk regions, or anyone wanting to rule out a parasitic cause of ongoing gut complaints. Self-pay with no referral — book and pay online, arrange sampling at a collection point, and receive a results report.

About this treatment

AGELLAB's intestinal parasites screen looks for protozoa and other parasites in the gastrointestinal tract that can cause ongoing digestive disturbance. Parasitic gut infections are an under-considered cause of chronic symptoms such as persistent diarrhoea, bloating, abdominal discomfort or unexplained gut upset — particularly after travel to regions where such infections are more common, or after exposure to contaminated food or water.

Identifying or excluding a parasitic cause can redirect management productively: a confirmed parasite points toward specific treatment, while a negative result helps shift attention to other explanations. The screen is most useful when paired with a clear symptom and travel history, which the laboratory and a clinician can use to interpret the findings.

The analysis is performed in ISO 15189-accredited AGEL-group laboratories drawing on the network's microbiology capability. The test is fully self-pay and consumer-facing: clients choose it in the AGELLAB e-shop, reserve a slot and pay online, then arrange sample collection or sample submission via the Ostrava-Vítkovice collection point or any nationwide collection point, following the sampling instructions provided. The results report is delivered after…
