AGELLAB's histamine intolerance test is aimed at people who notice reactions — for example flushing, headaches, nasal congestion, digestive discomfort or skin changes — after eating histamine-rich foods such as aged cheese, wine, cured meats or fermented products. Histamine intolerance arises when the body's capacity to degrade dietary histamine, principally via the enzyme diamine oxidase, is reduced relative to the histamine load, so symptoms appear…
The condition is relatively uncommon — affecting roughly a small percentage of the population — and its symptoms overlap with several other conditions, which is why a laboratory test can be a helpful objective input alongside a careful dietary history. Results are best interpreted together with a symptom record and, where needed, a clinician's guidance on a low-histamine trial.
