AGELLAB's gluten sensitivity test addresses a common source of confusion: reactions to gluten or wheat can stem from three distinct mechanisms — celiac disease (an autoimmune response to gluten), non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and wheat allergy (a classic IgE allergy) — and each has different implications and management. By combining the relevant laboratory markers, the test helps differentiate which mechanism best fits the individual, providing a clearer basis for dietary and clinical decisions than a single marker alone. This distinction matters because the management differs substantially: celiac disease requires strict lifelong gluten avoidance and clinical follow-up, whereas the other conditions may be handled differently. For accurate results in the celiac-related markers, it is important that the person is still consuming gluten in the period before testing, as a gluten-free diet can normalise the relevant markers — clients should follow the guidance provided at booking. The analysis is performed in ISO 15189-accredited AGEL-group laboratories. It is fully self-pay and consumer-facing: clients choose the test in the AGELLAB e-shop, reserve a slot and pay online, then attend the Ostrava-Vítkovice collection point or any nationwide collection point for the blood draw. The results report is delivered after laboratory processing and is best reviewed with a clinician.
