Diagnostic MRI of the brain using a Siemens MAGNETOM Sola 1.5T scanner, assessing brain parenchyma, ventricles, meninges, and vascular structures. Suitable for investigating headaches, dizziness, cognitive changes, and screening for intracranial pathology.
A brain MRI at Poliklinika AGEL Praha provides high-resolution cross-sectional imaging of the entire intracranial compartment using their 2024-installed Siemens MAGNETOM Sola 1.5T scanner. The examination covers the cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum, brainstem, ventricular system, meninges, and the major intracranial blood vessels in standard sequences. The scan is used to detect a wide range of conditions including space-occupying lesions such as tumours and cysts, evidence of prior cerebrovascular events (stroke, transient ischaemic attack), white matter disease, inflammatory conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hydrocephalus, and congenital structural anomalies. For preventive screening purposes, brain MRI can identify incidental findings that are clinically silent but may warrant monitoring -- such as small meningiomas, arachnoid cysts, or developmental venous anomalies. The standard brain MRI protocol takes approximately 30 minutes. Contrast agent (gadolinium) is not included in the base price but may be added at the radiologist's discretion for an additional 2,500 CZK if clinically warranted -- for example, when a lesion is identified that requires further characterisation. Prague offers significant cost advantages for brain MRI compared to Western European capitals. At 8,800 CZK (approximately EUR 360), the scan costs roughly half what comparable facilities in Germany or Austria charge. The Vinohrady location is a short metro ride from Prague's main train station and international bus terminal, and Prague airport connects to most European cities with flight times under two hours. A physician referral is required but scanned copies from any country are accepted, making it straightforward for international patients to arrange their own imaging.
