Type
MRI Scan
Duration
30 min
MRI scan of the head and brain for detecting structural abnormalities, tumours, stroke indicators, and degenerative changes. Contrast agent available at radiologist's discretion for an additional fee.
The brain MRI at Poliklinika AGEL produces detailed cross-sectional images of the brain parenchyma, skull base, ventricles, and surrounding structures. The examination uses standard multi-sequence protocols including T1-weighted, T2-weighted, FLAIR, and diffusion-weighted sequences to evaluate grey and white matter, detect space-occupying lesions, identify ischaemic changes, and characterise inflammatory or demyelinating pathology. The study is commonly ordered by neurologists investigating headaches, seizures, cognitive decline, and focal neurological deficits, as well as by oncologists for tumour surveillance. The radiologist may recommend contrast enhancement with gadolinium if the native sequences suggest a lesion that requires further characterisation — the contrast agent is billed separately at 2,500 CZK. Results are interpreted by the department's radiologists and a written report is provided. The department accepts referrals from multiple specialties including neurology, oncology, and general medicine. Self-pay patients can book directly without a referral at the published price.
