Type
PRP/PRF Therapy
Duration
1 hour
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and prolotherapy injections delivered under real-time ultrasound guidance by a pain management specialist for sports injuries, tendinopathies, and degenerative musculoskeletal conditions.
Affinity Pain Clinic offers ultrasound-guided regenerative injection therapy as a non-surgical treatment for musculoskeletal pain and injury. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is derived from the patient's own blood: a small sample is centrifuged to concentrate growth factors and platelets, which are then injected precisely into the injured tendon, ligament, or joint under live ultrasound guidance. The concentrated growth factors accelerate the natural healing cascade, reduce chronic inflammation, and promote tissue regeneration — making PRP particularly effective for conditions such as rotator cuff tendinopathy, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), patellar tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, and knee osteoarthritis. Because PRP is derived from the patient's own blood, the risk of allergic reaction or adverse blood reaction is very low compared to corticosteroid injections. Prolotherapy — an alternative or complementary approach — involves injecting a dextrose (sugar water) solution into damaged connective tissue to provoke a localised, controlled inflammatory response. This recruits fibroblasts and healing cells to the injection site, gradually strengthening and repairing lax or degenerated tissue. Prolotherapy is commonly used for ligament laxity, chronic spinal pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and recurrent sports injuries where structural reinforcement is the goal. Both treatments at Affinity Pain Clinic are performed by Dr Daniel Phang (MBBS, M.Med Anaesthesia, FIPP, CIPS, FAMS) — a fully credentialled pain specialist with international fellowship training in interventional pain procedures. Ultrasound guidance is used for all injections to ensure accurate needle placement, minimise procedural risk, and maximise therapeutic effect. Patients typically receive a course of 2–4 sessions depending on the condition severity, with follow-up assessment to evaluate tissue response. The clinic is open Monday to Saturday at Farrer Park Medical Centre, a major specialist medical hub connected to Farrer Park MRT.
