Type

MRI Scan

Duration

30 min

MRI scan of the head and brain without contrast agent. Evaluates brain tissue, ventricles, and surrounding structures for tumours, vascular changes, demyelination, and degenerative conditions. No referral needed for private patients.

Affidea's brain MRI provides multi-sequence imaging of the brain and skull base in axial, sagittal, and coronal planes. Standard sequences include T1-weighted, T2-weighted, FLAIR, and diffusion-weighted imaging, giving the radiologist a comprehensive view of grey and white matter, the ventricular system, basal cisterns, and posterior fossa structures. The examination is commonly requested for persistent headaches, dizziness, memory difficulties, and follow-up of known intracranial pathology. FLAIR sequences are particularly sensitive to periventricular white matter lesions associated with small vessel disease and demyelinating conditions, while diffusion-weighted imaging can identify acute ischaemic events. As part of the Affidea network, the Gdańsk centre follows group-wide imaging protocols that ensure consistent quality and reporting standards. The radiologist's written report is available within 2-3 working days, and image copies on CD are provided after the scan. No GP referral is required for self-pay appointments.
