Type

Otoplasty

Duration

2 hours

What's included

5 deliverables in this treatment

  • Consultation and examination by MUDr. Kamila Šormová
  • Cartilage reshaping of one or both ears via a hidden incision behind the ear
  • Protective head dressing, exchanged next day for an elastic headband
  • Outpatient procedure — home the same day
  • Post-operative checks

Otoplasty at AESTHGERY Plzeň corrects prominent or noticeably large ears by reshaping the ear cartilage, returning the ears to a natural shape and position closer to the head. The procedure suits adults as well as children from school age, once the ear cartilage is sufficiently developed. The incision is placed behind the ear, so the healed scar is not visible. It is an outpatient procedure — patients go home the same day with a protective head dressing, which is exchanged the next day for an elastic headband. Recovery takes approximately two weeks.

About this treatment

Prominent ears are one of the most common congenital aesthetic concerns, and otoplasty is one of the few aesthetic procedures routinely performed in childhood — correcting the ears before school age spares children years of teasing, while adults often resolve a lifelong source of self-consciousness in a single outpatient visit.

Technique

MUDr. Kamila Šormová places the incision in the fold behind the ear, where the resulting scar is completely hidden. Through this access the ear cartilage is reshaped — recreating the missing antihelical fold and/or reducing an overdeveloped conchal bowl — and the ear is secured in its new position closer to the head with permanent internal sutures. Both ears are usually corrected in one session to ensure symmetry.

Who is this for?

Prominent or large ears in adults and school-age children, ear asymmetry, lifelong self-consciousness about ear shape

Preparation required

Attend the Thursday consultation for assessment and an individual quote. For children, the surgeon confirms cartilage development is sufficient. Plan roughly two weeks of recovery with an elastic headband and avoid sports that risk pulling on the ears during healing.
