The resulting PRP concentrate contains growth factors (PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, EGF, and others) at concentrations 5-10 times higher than normal blood, which when injected into the skin trigger fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis, and angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) in the treatment area. As an autologous treatment — derived entirely from the patient's own blood — PRP carries essentially no risk of allergic reaction or immune rejection.
