About this treatment

Lip augmentation uses soft, cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler to enhance the lips' shape, volume and border definition while keeping movement and proportion natural. The treatment begins with a discussion of your goals — more hydration and a cleaner outline, a modest increase in fullness, or correction of asymmetry — after which the physician recommends an appropriate amount and approach, often starting conservatively for first-time patients.

A strong topical anaesthetic is applied, and because the filler products also contain lidocaine the procedure is generally well tolerated. The gel is placed with a fine needle or a blunt cannula and shaped by hand; results are visible immediately, though it is normal for the lips to swell for 24–48 hours and for small bruises to occur.
