Laser Removal of Benign Skin Lesions

Type

Mole Removal

Duration

30 min

Removal of benign skin lesions — such as warts, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses and other harmless growths — by laser, freezing (cryotherapy) or minor surgery, chosen to suit the lesion. At AESTETICA a dermatologist or surgeon first examines each lesion and, where there is any doubt, sends tissue for histopathology. Any lesion with suspicious features is assessed medically rather than removed for cosmetic reasons alone.

AESTETICA removes benign skin lesions using the method best suited to each case: a laser to vaporise superficial growths precisely, cryotherapy to freeze and destroy lesions such as warts, or minor surgical excision where a lesion is larger, deeper or needs to be sent for laboratory analysis. The starting point is always a clinical examination — and, where helpful, dermatoscopy — by a dermatologist or surgeon to confirm the lesion is harmless and to choose the right technique. Crucially, any mole or growth with features that could suggest skin cancer is evaluated medically and, if removed, sent for histopathology rather than treated as a purely cosmetic concern. For laser and cryotherapy, treatment is usually quick and performed under local anaesthetic or numbing where needed. Afterwards a small scab or area of redness forms and heals over one to two weeks; keeping the area clean and protected from the sun supports healing and helps minimise marking. Surgical excision involves a small wound closed with sutures and a short follow-up to remove them and review any laboratory result. The service is suited to adults who want to remove bothersome but benign lesions — warts, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, certain moles and similar growths — for comfort or appearance, with the reassurance of medical assessment beforehand. The clinician explains the most appropriate method, the expected healing and any scarring for your particular lesion at consultation.
