DEXAFit at Advantage Medical Group uses dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry — the clinical gold standard for body composition measurement — to provide a precise breakdown of muscle mass, fat mass, visceral fat, and bone mineral density. Unlike standard weight or BMI measurements, DEXA distinguishes between lean tissue and fat in different body regions, giving clinicians and patients actionable data on where fat is stored and whether muscle mass is adequate for long-term metabolic health. The scan is fast and non-invasive, taking approximately 10–15 minutes, with patients lying still on the scanning table while low-dose X-ray beams pass through the body. Results are delivered as a detailed report showing total and regional body composition, visceral adipose tissue levels, bone density T-scores, and comparisons to age and sex-matched norms. A doctor consultation is required prior to the scan (booked separately) to review medical history and ensure the scan is appropriate. DEXAFit is offered as part of the VITAL Longevity Screen or as a standalone service for fitness enthusiasts tracking muscle and fat changes, athletes monitoring performance adaptations, individuals on weight loss programmes, and those concerned about bone health with age. All three clinic locations in Bukit Timah, Marine Parade, and Jurong West can perform the scan. Walk-in appointments are accepted, and same-day bookings are typically available. Prices exclude GST.
