Osteoporosis Blood Panel

The osteoporosis blood panel at ACME Orthopaedics is a clinically targeted set of blood tests designed to complement the DEXA bone mineral density scan and provide a complete picture of a patient's bone health status. Rather than simply measuring bone density in isolation, this blood panel identifies the underlying metabolic and nutritional factors that drive or accelerate bone loss.

The panel includes four key tests. The Full Blood Count (FBC) screens for anaemia and other haematological conditions that may be associated with chronic disease contributing to bone fragility. These four tests together allow the orthopaedic specialist to distinguish between primary osteoporosis (age- and hormone-related bone loss) and secondary osteoporosis caused by an underlying medical condition or nutritional deficiency. This distinction is clinically important because secondary causes are often treatable, and correcting them can halt or even reverse bone density decline.
