The Skin Line gold needle electrocoagulation treatment at Aaron Laser targets dilated facial blood vessels, spider veins, hemangiomas and spider nevi using a fine gold needle that delivers a precise electrical current to the vessel wall, causing it to coagulate and close. The technique is performed by a dermatologist who assesses each lesion individually under direct vision, ensuring accurate placement with minimal impact on surrounding tissue. The Skin Line device's gold needle is biocompatible and glides through the skin with reduced resistance compared to standard needles. The result is progressive fading and disappearance of the treated vessels over the weeks following the session.
Cutaneous vascular lesions — including telangiectasias (spider veins), rosacea-related facial erythema, hemangiomas and spider nevi — are among the most common dermatological presentations in adults. At Aaron Laser, the Skin Line device uses a precision gold needle to deliver electrocoagulation energy directly into the lumen and wall of small superficial blood vessels. Gold is used for the needle tip because it is highly biocompatible, minimally reactive with tissue proteins, and produces a smooth insertion through the epidermis with minimal resistance, reducing the risk of drag-induced tissue trauma around the puncture site. The electrical energy delivered by the Skin Line system generates localised heat within the vessel wall, causing protein denaturation and immediate coagulation of the vessel. The surrounding epidermis and dermis are largely spared because the current is concentrated at the fine needle tip within the vessel. Over the following 2–4 weeks, the coagulated vessel is resorbed by the body's natural inflammatory and phagocytic processes, and the treated lesion progressively blanches and disappears. For small, isolated telangiectasias, a single session is often sufficient; larger or more numerous lesions may require 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The treating dermatologist at Aaron Laser performs a careful assessment before treatment to identify the lesion type, confirm it is amenable to electrocoagulation (as opposed to laser or IPL vascular treatment), and to check for any contraindications including blood-thinning medications, active skin infection in the area or personal history of keloid scarring. Post-treatment, a small scab may form at each treatment point, which should be left to separate naturally. Sun protection is recommended for the treated area for 4–6 weeks.
