Type
Nutrition Consultation
Duration
50 min
A 50-minute initial consultation with Vitality Clinic's certified functional dietitian. Covers full dietary history, health goals, any relevant laboratory results, and produces a personalised, evidence-based nutrition plan. Coordinated with functional medicine physician findings where applicable.
The initial nutrition consultation at Vitality Clinic is delivered by a certified functional dietitian whose practice extends well beyond conventional dietary counselling. Where standard dietetics focuses primarily on caloric balance and macronutrient ratios, functional nutrition integrates the patient's full biochemical and clinical picture — including laboratory biomarkers, gut health status, inflammatory load, and hormonal context — to build nutrition protocols that address root-cause drivers of health rather than generic recommendations. The 50-minute initial appointment begins with a structured dietary history covering eating patterns, food preferences and aversions, digestive symptoms, energy fluctuations across the day, and the patient's own observations about how specific foods affect their wellbeing. The dietitian also reviews relevant prior laboratory results — standard panels, food sensitivity tests, microbiome analyses, or any advanced biomarkers ordered by the functional medicine physician — and integrates these findings into the nutrition assessment. The output of the initial consultation is a personalised nutrition plan built around the patient's specific health goals and clinical findings. Depending on the case, this may include an anti-inflammatory dietary framework, a gut-healing protocol (such as a low-FODMAP or elimination phase), a nutrient-repletion strategy based on identified deficiencies, a blood sugar regulation approach for metabolic conditions, or a therapeutic dietary pattern targeting a specific diagnosed condition. The plan accounts for the patient's practical constraints — cooking habits, food access, budget, and cultural preferences — to ensure realistic implementation. When a patient is being seen by both the functional medicine physician and the functional dietitian, the two clinicians coordinate their recommendations so that dietary and supplementation protocols are complementary rather than overlapping. This integrated care model is particularly valuable for patients with complex multi-system presentations, where nutritional interventions are most effective when built on the foundation of a full functional medicine workup.
