An enhanced urological screening for men over 42, extending the standard urology check-up with testosterone testing and extended PSA markers for a more comprehensive assessment of prostate health, hormonal status, and age-related male health changes.
The Urology 42+ Check-up builds on the standard urology screening with additional biomarkers that become increasingly relevant for men in their forties and beyond. The package includes all components of the standard urology check-up — urologist consultation, prostate ultrasound, PSA, and urine culture — plus testosterone testing and extended PSA analysis for a more nuanced risk assessment. Testosterone levels decline gradually from around age 30, with clinically significant reductions becoming more common after 40. Symptoms of low testosterone (hypogonadism) include fatigue, reduced muscle mass, increased body fat, decreased libido, mood changes, and cognitive fog. These symptoms often develop insidiously and are frequently attributed to ageing, stress, or lifestyle factors rather than being recognised as a hormonal deficiency that may respond to intervention. Establishing a baseline testosterone level allows the urologist to determine whether symptoms are related to hormonal changes and to monitor trends over time. The extended PSA markers provide additional granularity beyond total PSA. Free PSA ratio (the proportion of unbound PSA to total PSA) helps distinguish between benign prostatic conditions and those requiring further investigation. A low free-to-total PSA ratio may indicate a higher risk of significant pathology, while a higher ratio is more consistent with benign hyperplasia. This refinement reduces unnecessary anxiety and follow-up procedures triggered by moderately elevated total PSA values. At 1,650 PLN (approximately €385), the enhanced package adds 300 PLN to the standard urology check-up for testosterone and extended PSA analysis — tests that would individually cost €80-150 at Western European laboratories. The two-and-a-half-hour programme provides time for the urologist to discuss results in detail and outline any recommended follow-up.
