Radiofrequency microneedling is a second-generation device technology that combines the controlled micro-injury mechanism of traditional microneedling with the thermal stimulation of bipolar or multipolar radiofrequency energy. At Aesthetic Club Berlin, this dual-action treatment addresses a wider range of skin concerns than either technology can achieve independently — from fine lines and skin laxity to acne scarring, enlarged pores, and uneven texture. The device uses an array of fine insulated needles — typically 0.5 to 3.0 mm in length depending on the treatment zone — that penetrate the skin at adjustable depths and deliver RF energy at the needle tips. The insulation on the needle shafts ensures that the thermal energy is deposited precisely at the tip depth within the dermis, without heating the epidermis above. This configuration allows higher energy levels to be used safely compared to surface-applied RF devices, producing more significant collagen contraction and remodelling at the target depth. The micro-channels created by needle penetration trigger a wound-healing cascade that includes platelet aggregation, growth factor release, and fibroblast activation — the same mechanisms harnessed by traditional microneedling. The superimposed RF heat stimulus amplifies this response: thermal injury at the dermis prompts more intense collagen denaturation and subsequent neo-collagenesis than mechanical injury alone, resulting in measurably superior tightening and textural improvement over 3 to 6 months.
